Description
Beyond lies the canyon. I was so excited to see the elusive black and white squirrel while I was there, but I wasn't camera ready. So here is a lovely photo of a tree that squirrel climbed.
This large ponderosa pine tree, with a gnarled and weathered tree trunk, is reaching into a stunning view of the Grand Canyon, as seen from the Southern Rim, with the Kaibab Plateau visible in the distance. The canyon is massive, with sheer cliffs that drop thousands of feet down to the Colorado River below. With mesmerizing colorful layers of red, orange, and yellow rocks visible in the cliffs.
Photo taken from the Mather Point, which is one of the most popular viewpoints on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
